It is with regret that the
organisers of the Westcountry Balloon Fiesta & Day at the Races announce the
postponement of the 2008 & 2009 events.

1st August 2007 -
Entries approach 50 with only 4 weeks to go! |

With less than 4 weeks to the
2007 event, entries continue to come in from around the country.
Two new Ultramagic balloons,
completed this summer, will be making first appearances at the event. The
Robert Wiseman Dairies balloon, operated by Scotair, has a distinctive fresian
pattern, while the smaller Girlguiding UK balloon will be making its UK debut. |

15th June 2007 -
Texaco confirmed as balloon gas partner |
 |
Petrol giant Texaco has been
confirmed as the balloon gas sponsor for the 2007 fiesta.
The company, which operates
hundreds of petrol stations across the UK, has Somerfield mini-markets at some
of its sites, and is delighted to be working in partnership with the supermarket
in supporting the fiesta. |

1st June 2007 -
Somerfield announced as main event sponsor for 2007 |

The fiesta is delighted to
announce that supermarket company Somerfield have agreed a sponsorship package
for the 2007 event.
Having attended with their balloon for the past 5 years, the company has agreed
to support the volunteers who organise the event by assisting with
infrastructure and sponsoring the Charity Bazaar marquee.
Look out for the company's balloon at the event. |

1st February 2007 -
Tavistock College confirm their support by providing the venue for
2007 |

After an extremely successful
event in 2006, Tavistock College have once again backed the event by providing
the College grounds for the event in 2007.
College Principal Colin Eves and Estates Manager Tony Gilbert have been working
with organising committee representative Mark Warne for the past 12 months and
the committee are delighted with the level of support and cooperation that has
been given by the College and look forward to a continuing relationship as the
event continues to grow. |

31st October 2006 -
Proceeds of the 2006 event presented to Crowndale Recreation
Association |
|
|
The 2006 proved to be a record year for the event,
allowing the organisers to donate a sizeable sum to the ongoing work of the
Crowndale Recreation Association, which is seeking to provide top class sports
facilities to the children of West Devon.
At the presentation ceremony, some of the member clubs accepted a cheque from
the Lions & Round Table. |

28th August 2006 - The
best balloon fiesta this year - its official! |
 |
After 2 action packed days,
the Westcountry Balloon Fiesta has officially become the most successful balloon
fiesta of 2006, recording 77 ascents over the weekend, beating both Bristol &
Northampton.
Once all the bills have been
paid, it is likely that a sizeable sum will have been raised for local children's
organisations.
